El Gran Cañón

There are only a few places in the world that have an Aura that cannot be explained. It is an energy that you feel throughout your body instantly – a spiritual power the embraces the soul. Ground Zero in New York City; Kilauea on the Island of Hawaii; Saint Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City just to name a few that I have visited. And of course the Grand Canyon.

A billion years in the making – it is simply majestic. Today I walked about 3.5 miles around the rim trail – the picture above is just a snippet of the splendor of Grand Canyon National Park located on the South Rim of the Canyon, just north of Williams, Arizona.

You can buy countless books that display the sheer beauty of the park but they can never duplicate the aura of this natural gift. Here are just a few of the images that I was able to capture:

Getting to the Canyon was even an adventure. Amerigo visited the Grand Canyon Railway RV Park – yes railway. Train travel is awesome and I really don’t understand that it hasn’t been embraced on the west coast. The park itself is nice, very clean, and easily accessible off I-40. The Train Station is across the street, along with a hotel and pet resort. Downtown Williams, AZ is only a few blocks away – an easy walk. I dropped the puppies off at the pet resort before I got on the train (I was going to be gone 7+ hours – to long for them to be left alone in Amerigo).

This is just the locomotive – the train has multiple cars and various classes (economy – first class)

The Train ride takes just over two hours and is a little hokey – starts with a Wild West show and ends with the train being robbed (yes robbed), but overall it was a blast. I would recommend the trip, especially if you are traveling with kids (or people that just act like kids).

The journey has begun well – next stop the Petrified Forest National Park. Amerigo’s Journey continues and remember to DO FUN SHIT ALWAY.
