Amerigo was getting restless being in storage for 10 days after his mega-trip, so we were off to Los Angeles for the weekend. Not all trips have to be complicated or extended; some of the best journeys are just for the day or weekend. This was one of those trips.
Although I didn’t extensively plan this trip, that was in part because Amerigo has gone to LA a number of times for short jaunts; meals were easy, and I knew the route for the most part. I did end up leaving a little later than expected, which put me in rush hour traffic in LA on a Friday (totally sucked) but after an awesome weekend, I left after rush hour on Monday morning and hit zero, that’s right – zero, traffic on the way back to home base.
Amerigo’s home for the weekend was the Golden Shore RV Resort, near downtown Long Beach. What a great spot! Super clean, friendly staff, and a park nearby for the kid’s daily walks.
This was also the first time that we were “glamping” with another family – da RUPPERTS (my friend RJ, his Dad, and half-brother little RJ). We had spots right next to each other and were ready for the weekend festivities.
The weekend started with a Friday Vegas Golden Knight Watch Party. The Ruppert Clan was still enroute so I was alone, dancing around the campsite watching on the outside TV, while providing updates to the road warriors. By the way, the VGK beat the San Jose Sharks like a drum (doo doo doo doo).
Saturday was spent relaxing with lunch at the Yardhouse while waiting for the Ohio State Buckeye Football game. We had a minor interruption in the 3rd quarter when my outdoor TV went dead (more on that below) but lucky the Ruppert Bus had an outdoor theater also; just had to turn the chairs around. Buckeyes won, which made Jeff happy.
Sunday was dedicated to Tailgating and the Los Angeles Chargers Football game. My first pro-game in a while; had a blast but it was sad that the Chargers were unable to fill a 20,000 seat stadium. Hopefully, LA will embrace the team, once they move into the new stadium. Sadly, the Chargers lost; so, we were 2-1 in sports for the weekend.
Troubleshooting – one minor glitch on the weekend and the reason for my TV going dead in the 3r quarter – for some reason my coach batteries were not charging, even though I was plugged into shore power. I wasn’t going to let this minor problem interrupt the weekend; after all, it wasn’t a safety issue and I was able to charge the house batteries by starting the engines. However, I did spend some time troubleshooting and isolating components to locate the problem. Some fellow RVers noticed that I was working on an electric issue and tossed in their two-cents. This is one thing that I love about most RVers; most are willing to help with issues – their experience is an awesome resource – just beware, some of their suggestions were stupid and could have caused more damage. You are the only one that knows your RV and you are the only one that is going to have to pay for repairs – better safe than sorry, particularly when it comes to electrical issues.
Overall a GREAT weekend – spending time with friends and family is therapeutic; it is just as important to nurture these relationships, as it is to bridge the gap between your mental and physical health. But here is the best part — you can do both at the same time!!!!!! D.F.S.A.

P.S. I have the electrical problem isolated to the Battery Control Center or Converter. I will provide updates once I resolve the issue. But isn’t it ironic that I was in LA for the Charger’s game and Amerigo had an issue maintaining a charge on the batteries — Both FAILED. (Sorry RJ — too soon????) #Nobolts
